Fuerteventura Accountant

Italian accountant in Fuerteventura

Fiscal Tax Canarie is the boutique Italian–Spanish firm of reference for those wanting to open a business, move their fiscal residency or invest in the Canary Islands. We follow you from the first question to the annual return — in Italian and with the depth you need.

Why choose Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is not just sea and mild weather: it's the doorway to one of the most competitive tax regimes in Europe. The island offers quality of life, air connectivity with Italy and a growing business ecosystem, especially in tourism, digital services, real estate and e-commerce.

Compared to other tax destinations, the Canary Islands have a decisive advantage: they're EU territory. Companies here operate with an EU VAT number, access the single market and benefit from EU directives on dividends, interest and royalties.

The Italian community on the island has grown a lot: tourism entrepreneurs, digital nomads, professionals and families seeking a new life project. Fiscal Tax Canarie was born to support exactly this profile, with a serious, structured approach.

How to open a business in the Canary Islands

The first step is choosing the right legal form. The two main paths are the self-employed (autónomo) and a company, typically a Sociedad Limitada (SL). The choice depends on expected revenue, activity type and growth outlook.

The autónomo is ideal for a quick, low-cost start. Liability is unlimited and taxation is progressive (IRPF), so it becomes less convenient as revenue grows.

The Sociedad Limitada protects personal assets and applies the Corporate Tax, with a reduced rate of 15% for the first two profitable years. If the company sits within the ZEC (Canary Islands Special Zone), the rate drops to 4% — one of the lowest in Europe.

We guide you in the choice, in the setup (bylaws, NIE, share capital, notary, Commercial Registry) and in every subsequent step: Tax Agency, Social Security, bank account, contracts, books.

Taxes and IGIC: the Canary tax system

IGIC (Canary General Indirect Tax) replaces VAT in the islands. The general rate is 7%, much lower than the 21% Spanish peninsular rate and the 22% Italian one. Reduced (0%, 3%) and increased (9.5%, 15%, 20%) rates apply by good or service.

On direct taxation, besides the corporate rate, the Canaries offer tools like the RIC (Reserve for Investments in the Canary Islands), allowing deduction of up to 90% of undistributed profits reinvested in productive assets in the archipelago.

For resident individuals, IRPF has a slightly lighter regional bracket. The Italy–Spain Convention avoids double taxation but requires careful handling: this is where a firm with Italian expertise makes the real difference.

Moving your fiscal residency

Moving fiscal residency to Spain is not a simple address change: it requires a real, coherent project. The 183-day rule, the centre of vital interests, family, assets: each element must be considered to avoid future disputes with the Italian Revenue.

The first step is obtaining the NIE and registering on the Padrón. From there Spanish fiscal residency is built, along with timely AIRE cancellation.

We follow every step: registrations, permits, contracts, bank accounts, Modelo 720 and 721, and coordination with your Italian accountant for a correct fiscal exit strategy.

Investments and opportunities

The Canary Islands offer opportunities across sectors: tourism real estate (VUT, short-term rentals), renewables, agri-food, digital services, cross-border e-commerce. Each sector has specific rules and dedicated incentives.

For real estate investors we analyse yield, taxation (IGIC, ITP, IBI), short-let management, tourist licences and optimal corporate structures. For digital nomads and online businesses, we assess ZEC as a growth engine.

The most common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

Opening a company without a coherent tax plan, underestimating Modelo 720, failing to properly close Italian tax positions, mixing up administrative and tax residency, ignoring anti-abuse rules: these are the most common — and most costly — mistakes we see.

Our method always includes a preliminary assessment, a documented structure and a shared timeline. Nothing left to chance, nothing done without explaining it to you.

FAQ

Do I need to move physically to open a company in the Canaries?+

No. You can incorporate a Spanish company without being a resident. To benefit from the personal Canary tax regime, actual residency is required. We assess the best structure for your case together.

What's the difference between ZEC and the ordinary regime?+

ZEC applies a 4% corporate rate subject to specific requirements: minimum investment, job creation, eligible activities. Not for everyone — but a huge advantage for those who qualify.

Can I keep Italian clients while living in the Canaries?+

Absolutely. Many of our clients invoice Italy from their Canary structure. Attention is needed on permanent establishment, e-invoicing and EU VAT rules — we guide you step by step.

How much does an initial consultation cost?+

The first discovery call is free. We listen, understand your project and propose a clear path with transparent pricing.

Seri e competenti.
